I
am very happy to announce that I will be teaching four all NEW workshops
at Maria's studio in Fremont, CA May October 2nd-4th, 2015 (classes are open to the
public.)
I
will be offering fresh, new workshops teaching a variety of NEW
bookbinding, collage, creative processing, self expression, composition,
design, layering, painting and much, much more.
My workshops are always
process-based learning while creating a unique product. I am well known
for not traveling light and bring a large variety of supplies including
(but not limited to) collage material, rubber stamps, stencils, pens,
markers, tape and more.
Please note there is a small supply list below each class
description.
Beginners to advanced are welcome in ALL of the classes.

* MY
IMPERFECT HEART
Friday, October 2nd 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
My Imperfect Heart
So often we are after messy, layered, honest and rich
pieces of art. That's what this class is about, putting
ourselves together on the pages, revealing tiny bits of
ourselves, piecing ourselves together with layers of tape,
paint and paper. Prepare to get messy as you learn a
variety of new mixed media techniques. This book can be a
deeply personal journey or a book of luscious, playful
layers. There is something for everyone in this class.
Supply
list:
an
apron,
scissors, a selection of
favorite collage ephemera (think about reading this when choosing your images), bone folder, cork
back metal ruler, roll of paper towels OR an
old rag, permanent black ink pad (if you have
one), 1" brush to glue and paint (I like chip
or bristle brushes), a few of your favorite
glue sticks (large glue sticks will last you
longer), roll
of waxed paper OR an
old catalog or magazine to glue on (if you
don't want to use all of your waxed paper for
this.)
* THE JOURNAL EXPERIENCE: A MASTER CLASS
Friday, October 2nd 3-7 p.m.
The Journal Experience: A Master Class
Journaling doesn't have to be about special events nor
does it have to be limited to what you ate for breakfast.
In this four hour workshop, we'll focus on the everyday,
simple moments that add up to an individual lifetime of
experiences and thoughts. You'll learn how to revel in the
daily moments and turn them into art journal pages. Be
prepared to get messy, be pushed out of your box, laugh,
learn (a lot) and have some fun.
Supply
list:
a
journal (or I will have paper
for you), an apron,
scissors,
a selection of favorite collage
ephemera (think about reading this when choosing your images), bone folder, cork back
metal ruler, roll of paper towels
OR an old rag, permanent black ink
pad (if you have one), 1" brush

old catalog or magazine to glue on
(if you don't want to use all of
your waxed paper for this.)
* INNER VOICE: A CONVERSATION IN ART JOURNALING
Saturday, October 3rd 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Inner Voice: A Conversation in Art Journaling
(You are also invited to stay after class, dinner (on
your own dime) and play time.)
In this special eight hour long workshop, not only will
you construct a new and unusual journal with pages that
flip, fold and pull out in ways you never thought
possible, but you will dive deep onto the pages. You will
combine layers of paper, paint and more to form your own
artistic voice on the page. Learn how to push, pull and
coax ideas on the page. Learn how to express yourself with
layers of paper, paint, pens, stencils and much, much
more. You will have a conversation in color, pattern,
shape, design, text, texture and more using mixed mixed
techniques on the pages of your new journal.
