Global Dimming
Have you heard of it? I hadn't either until last night. David and I watched a BBC documentary specifically about Global Dimming. Global dimming is the decrease in the sun's light reaching the Earth over the last few decades. This can be attributed to air pollution. The pollution reflects the sun's light back into space. What this means, in a nutshell, is that we are not fully aware of the real strength of Global Warming.
Global dimming is masking the true power of global warming.
We can't fix global dimming without fixing global warming at the same time.
Haven't heard of global dimming? Go look it up. Watch the BBC documentary. Also, PBS' Nova series also has a documentary. I haven't seen it yet.
This isn't meant to scare anyone (though it shocked the hell out of me), but please pass the info along. The more people that are aware of this problem, the faster we can start to change how we live.
And we need to change how we live, desperately and now.
